Three
Day Nutritional Face Lift
Three-Day Nutritional Face Lift
"Your skin is a monitor of what's happening inside," says Dr. Perricone. "I call this my three-day nutritional face lift because if you eat the things I suggest for three days it makes such a difference in the way your skin appears that people actually notice it."
Try the following foods for an instant lift:
Breakfast: An egg white omelet, using 4 egg whites to one yolk. Add smoked salmon and serve with fresh melon and berries.
Lunch & Dinner: Either salmon or chicken with a green salad dressed with olive oil and lemon juice.
Foods to eat on your three-day diet: asparagus, beans, cabbage, leafy greens, honeydew melon and cantaloupe, and plums.
Foods to avoid on your three-day diet: bananas, breads, carrots, corn, fruit juices (eat whole fruits instead), pasta, potatoes, rice and sugar.
10 Things You Can Do Now To Fight The Aging Process
10 Things You Can Do Now To Fight The Aging Process
- Optimize your antioxidant protection by eating five to ten servings of fruits and vegetables per day and supplement with a high quality, high potency multivitamin/antioxidant nutriceutical.
- For maximum longevity, limit daily intake of fats to 30% or less.
- Exercise at least 15 minutes daily to maintain the minimum yet significant longevity benefit to overall health. With exercise, more is better. Try for one hour a day, five days a week (check with your physician first).
- Look young, think young, and be young. "As a man thinketh, so shall ye be." The mind-body connection is a powerful force in medicine, healing and longevity. Looking good will help you in feeling good.
- Drive a large vehicle and always wear seat belts. Odds are 200% better of surviving a crash in a full-size vehicle than in a subcompact.
- Find a physician who will be your partner in your personal anti-aging medical program.
- Early detection and prevention is the cornerstone to longevity. Most cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, and heart disease are treatable if caught at Stage 1, the earliest possible detection stage of disease.
- Don't accept "You are just getting old" as an excuse for not feeling youthful and energetic. Fatigue, depression, slowed thought, truncal obesity, weakness, ashes and pains are all treatable and reversible signs of aging that should alert you to a need for anti=aging medical intervention.
- If you are over the age of forty-five, have your hormone levels checked by a physician at least once a year.
- Maintain sexual performance and refuse to accept diminished function--this ability is an absolute indication of health and longevity.

Massage & Alternative Therapies
Nothing relaxes the body and soothes the soul quite like a massage. Not only does lit relieve aching limbs and loosen up tense muscles, the very nature of touch stimulates our senses. There are many forms of professional massage available today. Swedish massage uses essential oils and deep pressure to increase circulation and alleviate stress. Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing therapy that concentrates on moving energy through the body by massaging certain pressure points. Reflexology works on the theory that every organ has a correlating pressure point in the feet. Find a certified practitioner you feel comfortable with and let them knead your strain away.

What is Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion machines mostly use Aluminum Oxide as the crystal being sprayed onto the skin. It is a hard, stable sand-like material and being inert, it does not cause any skin reaction. It is also an absorbent so when each particle strikes the skin exfoliating the top dead cells, it also absorbs surface oil before being vacuumed away with the removed skin sells.
Aluminum is the third most abundant element on earth. It can be found in the air, water and soil and so, in turn, also in the plants and animals we eat. However, Aluminum and Aluminum Oxide are two different substances. When Aluminum is oxidized it changes form and becomes a powder. Once this happens its properties are different from Aluminum in its metallic form. Aluminum Oxide for use in microdermabrasion machines has been cleared by the FDA.
Using Cosmeceuticals for Sun Damaged Skin
Here are some of the active ingredients that work to help fight aging and while there is still no "miracle in a jar" remedy for years of sun damage, cosmeceuticals are getting far greater results than have been seen in the past by cosmetics alone.
- RETIN A (Tretinoin)
Tretinoin is a drug derived from vitamin A. They produce a superficial peel of the epidermis (outer layer) and dermis (deep layer) of the skin and are useful in the treatment of both aging and acne by increasing the speed of cell replacement. Tretinoin has been proven to significantly improve the appearance of early stretch marks and works best when used in combination with alpha hydroxy acid preparations (AHAs).
The downside to using Retin A is that it makes the skin extremely sensitive to sunlight and users should be careful to wear a high protection sunscreen and keep out of the sun whenever possible.
- AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid)
Alpha Hydroxy is an ingredient found in plants, sugar cane and sour milk. However, 99% of the AHAs used in cosmetics are synthetic copies. At over 4% and in a ph of 3 to 4, AHAs exfoliate skin cells by breaking down the substance in skin that holds skin cells together, called cellular cement. As with Retin A, users of AHAs should be particularly vigilant about sun protection. As the percentage of AHAs is not legally required to be stated, do your research as your chosen product may have negligible amounts of AHA and be using it purely as a marketing tool.
- BETA HYDROXY ACID (Salicylic Acid)
Salicylic acid is the sole source of beta hydroxy acid (BHA) and is related to the active ingredient in asprin. Like AHA, it is used to exfoliate the skin, however, BHA penetrates further into the pore. For that reason, BHA is better used treating acne and blackheads and AHA for aging and sun damage. BHA retains some of asprin's anti-inflammatory properties and is thus considered an effective treatment of rosacea.
- VITAMIN C TOPICAL TREATMENTS
Moisturizers and anti-aging creams containing vitamin C have become extremely popular over the last few years. Vitamin C is a known antioxidant - its role as a cancer fighter is food has been championed for years. Cosmeceutical companies use it topically for anti-aging and skin firming. But beware, not all vitamin C products are created equal. Select ones with proven stability.
- VITAMIN E TOPICAL TREATIMENTS
Vitamin E is another well-known anti-oxidant. Although its topical value has been touted as a scar healer, no concrete evidence supports this. However, vitamin E and its esters are powerful topical antioxidants that can help vitamin C work better.
- KINETIN AND OTHER GROWTH FACTORS
Kinetin is a hormone-like growth factor from plants and yeast that acts like an antioxidant. There is evidence that kinetin can influence cell growth and maturation in plant and non-plant tissues, and may slow the aging process, but little is known about its effects on the aging of human skin. Other sources of growth factors that are now being studied include solutions that preserve skin grafts and artificial skin.
